Job Description Summary

Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy LLP, an AmLaw 100 firm and the leading global immigration services provider, is looking for a skilled, motivated and adaptable individual to support our Office of Audit and Privacy in the role of Associate, Audit and Privacy.

Reporting directly to the Chief Audit and Privacy Officer, the Associate, Audit and Privacy, will handle day-to-day management of personnel to allow the Chief Audit and Privacy Officer to focus on the legal and risk environment affecting our Firm globally. As an investigator, strategist, adviser and implementer, the successful candidate will drive legal analysis and operational strategy based on the priorities of the Chief Audit and Privacy Officer. The right candidate will also contribute to the strategic positioning of the Firm, particularly with respect to its management of risk and handling of data.

Job Description

The Associate, Audit and Privacy, will be responsible for:

  • Acting as principal adviser to the Chief Audit and Privacy Officer and senior management team for the Firm.
  • Updating and assisting the Chief Audit and Privacy Officer daily on areas of risk to the Firm and operations of the Office of Audit and Privacy.
  • Coordinating the execution of strategic initiatives within the Office's jurisdiction.
  • Participating in regular meetings with senior management of the Firm.
  • Assessing inquiries directed to the Chief Audit and Privacy Officer, determining the proper course of action, and delegating to the appropriate individual to manage.
  • Providing legal advice and direction to the Director of Audit with respect to internal and external audit engagements.
  • Providing legal advice and support to the Chief Audit and Privacy Officer with respect to internal investigations within the jurisdiction of the Office of Audit and Privacy.
  • Providing legal, strategic and operational advice to the Chief Audit and Privacy Officer with respect to the operations of the Firm's Data Privacy Office, including the administration, management, and development of the Firm’s Privacy Program and related projects, such as EU GDPR compliance.
  • Identifying, developing and socializing policies, procedures and processes designed to address areas of strategic importance to the Firm, including risk management, quality assurance, and privacy.
  • Collaborating with internal project management, business applications and information security teams on matters and projects of concern to, or within the jurisdiction of, the Office of Audit and Privacy.
  • Acting as initial and lead point of contact for both internal and external (i.e., client and regulatory) stakeholders for audit and privacy-related inquires and escalations.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must have JD and current admission to the bar
  • 5+ years’ legal experience, including demonstrated skills in conducting internal investigations, developing policies and procedures, and providing practical, strategic advice to clients
  • Current and/or prior experience in the areas of risk management, compliance and privacy
  • Comfort with and understanding of audit techniques and methodology
  • Strong managerial and interpersonal skills
  • Proven track record of effectively interacting with senior management
  • Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across departments and geographically dispersed team members
  • Must be effective, adaptable and action-oriented
  • Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills
