Associate, Privacy


The role:
 

We are looking for a European qualified lawyer  based within our EMEA region to join our in-house legal department with a focus on European privacy and data protection related matters reporting to the Fragomen’s Chief Audit and Privacy Officer. The location of this role is flexible, it can be positioned anywhere within Europe. 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as lead point of contact for the EMEA region for privacy and data protection related enquiries and escalations, both internal and external (i.e., client and regulatory);
  • Assist with drafting, implementing and monitoring policies, procedures and processes related to Fragomen’s privacy practices and program;
  • Provide strategic legal advice and guidance to the business on the use of personal data for ongoing operations and new initiatives within the context of European privacy laws and regulations;
  • Collaborate with internal Business Application and Information Security Teams on privacy matters related to the organizations IT applications and systems;
  • Review and negotiate contractual agreements and provisions related to data protection compliance;
  • Assist with the review of ongoing compliance of third party vendors as related to privacy and data protection and the processing of personal data on behalf of the organization;
  • Design and implement privacy related training and awareness materials for all levels of staff;
  • Assist with responding to client enquiries regarding Fragomen’s privacy practices;
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to conduct and review ongoing projects and business initiatives, including the development and use of Privacy Impact Assessments.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • European qualified lawyer with significant experience working in a law firm and/or in-house legal department with privacy, data protection, and information security related experience
  • Must be fluent in English ; German and/or French preferred 
  • Experience working within an international legal environment
  • Ability to deliver clear, practical and pragmatic written and oral advice
  • Ability to make risk-based commercial decisions
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of GDPR is preferred
