About the Program:

Becky Xia, country leader for Fragomen offices in China, and Jeffrey Wilson, specialist in labor laws in Shanghai, China, will speak on the latest PRC laws and related developments in this upcoming China Business Network meeting.

Becky will discuss the issues in the increasingly complex area of PRC immigration, including visa issues for both in-bound and out-bound employees from multinational corporations, and Chinese companies, into and out of China.

The Labor Law presentation by Jeffrey will touch on the latest developments in unions, collective bargaining, and wages in China. He will also provide an overview of the Chinese Social Insurance Law which takes effect July 1, 2011.

About the Speakers

Jeffrey Wilson

Jeffrey Wilson is Counsel at Jun He Law Offices in Shanghai, China and a member of the firm's labor practice. He is a frequent speaker on PRC labor issues in China and the United States. He has also assisted the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai to prepare comments on draft legislation and regulations, including the Labor Contract Law, Implementing Regulations for the Labor Contract Law, Social Insurance Law, and Interim Measures for the Participation in Social Insurance by Foreigners Employed in China.

Jeffrey was born and raised in Corvallis. He received his undergraduate degree from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon, and his law degree and M.A.I.S. degree in Chinese Studies from the University of Washington in Seattle. He also studied Mandarin at National Taiwan University. He first went to China in 1986 to teach at Fuzhou University and source products for Atiyeh International. He also worked at Portland's Norcrest China Company, which was located in the White Stag building. Jeffrey is also licensed to practice in New York.

Becky Xia

Becky Xia is General Manager of Fragomen in China. Fragomen is one of the world's largest business immigration firms. Becky is based in Shanghai and works exclusively in China immigration law, primarily in employment-based immigration and investor visas.

Becky has significant experience in providing immigration advice and visa services to companies in industries such as financial services, information technology and telecommunications, retail, science and engineering and health. She also has expertise in the growing area of assisting companies with immigration issues related to Chinese national employees going abroad to work.

Prior to joining Fragomen, Becky was chief representative of a U.S. employment law firm in China where she headed the firm's China immigration practice. Previously, she led the immigration practice for a Chinese law firm. Becky holds a LLB degree from China Southern Yangtze University School of Law. She is a frequent speaker on PRC immigration issues.
