Maximum Stay for Business Visitors and Tourists Increased to 180 Days for Most Nationalities
May 10, 2010
Panamanian immigration authorities have increased the maximum allowable stay for business visitors and tourists to 180 days for nationals of most countries, up from the previous maximums of 30 or 90 days.
While the maximum potential stay for business visitors and tourists is now 180 days, an individual traveler may be granted a shorter authorized period of stay depending on the nature of his or her trip and the discretion of Panamanian authorities. Nationals of countries for which Panama requires an Authorized Visa will generally still be limited to a 30-day maximum stay. This change does not affect foreign nationals seeking to enter Panama for short-term work assignments.
The increased maximum period of stay for business visitors and tourists has not yet been published in Panama’s Official Gazette, but authorities began granting the longer stays in practice last week.
