Fragomen Elects New Partners and Managing Director

Fragomen, the world’s leading provider of global immigration services, announced today the election of Tina Niedzwiecki and Patrick Shen to Partner and Magdalene Tennant as Managing Director, effective January 1, 2010. With 35 offices located in 15 countries, Fragomen’s leadership now includes a total of 55 Partners and Managing Directors. The knowledge and experience possessed by these newly promoted individuals strengthens the firm’s government relations capabilities and ability to provide outstanding guidance to clients worldwide. Patrick Shen, Washington, DC Office
Given his unique government experience in the field of immigration, Patrick’s election to Partner underscores the significance the firm places on assisting its multinational corporate clients in maintaining compliant immigration programs in the stringent regulatory climate of the global marketplace. He joined the Firm in 2005 after over a decade of government experience that included serving as Policy Director for Immigration and Customs Enforcement at the Department of Homeland Security, and Chief Immigration Counsel for the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee. In 2007, Patrick was again called back to government service when he was appointed by the President and confirmed unanimously by the United States Senate as Special Counsel for Immigration-related Unfair Employment Practices in the Justice Department. Patrick rejoined the Firm a year ago as the Director of Global Compliance. In this capacity, Patrick advises the Firm and clients in both the US and around the world regarding immigration compliance and regulatory and advisory issues. In addition, Patrick joins Fragomen Partner Howard Gordon in our government relations practice. Patrick received both his undergraduate and law degrees from Brigham Young University and is admitted to practice law in Washington, DC.

Tina R. Niedzwiecki, New York, NY Office
Tina’s election to Partner further strengthens the firm’s New York practice and ability to support the needs of Fragomen clients at a senior level. Representing some of the firm’s largest clients, including a world leading multinational technology consulting corporation, Tina utilizes her experience and knowledge of immigration to provide strategic advice, solid program management and legal guidance in complicated immigration matters. She also has experience representing a variety of industries including financial institutions, health care and athletic teams. Tina is active in the immigration community as a frequent lecturer on immigration related topics and having published several articles on the subject. Tina joined the Firm in 2000 after graduating from the George Washington University School of Law in 1998 and two years with a leading firm in Washington, D.C. Prior to law school, Tina graduated with honors from Lehigh University with a double major in Government and Latin American Studies and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Tina is admitted to practice law in both New York and New Jersey.

Elected Managing Director of Fragomen Global Immigration Services, LLC

Magdalene Tennant, Hong Kong Office
Magdalene’s election reinforces the importance the firm places on maintaining a strong practice in the Asia Pacific region as an area of great economic significance to Fragomen clients. Based in Hong Kong, Magdalene leverages her excess of 20 years experience in providing both in-bound and out-bound immigration services to individuals and multinational companies to lead the Firm’s Greater China practice, which includes Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, as well as China. Magdalene has been with the Firm since 2003 when she joined the nascent Hong Kong Practice, which has now grown to become one of the largest immigration consultancies in Hong Kong. Additionally, Magdalene played an important in-country role in establishing our China Practice, which initially operated solely out of the Hong Kong office, but which now has offices in Shanghai and Beijing. Magdalene has a Bachelor of Economics Degree from Australian National University and speaks several languages including English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
