Job Description

The Washington, DC office of Fragomen, a leading international business immigration law firm, is seeking a Supervising Paralegal with 5+ years of business immigration law experience to provide leadership and support to the legal team, clients and internal staff.

The Supervising Paralegal works with the Partner, Attorneys and Client Services Manager and is responsible for the quality of the legal team’s work and ensuring deadlines are met.

As a Business Immigration Supervisor, you will: 

  • Supervise a team of case workers by providing training and guidance and conducting regular performance reviews for direct reports.
  • Delegate, prioritize, and review work flow of case workers.
  • Serve as a team resource for client and office procedures.
  • Oversee docket management and case flow to ensure service level agreement deadlines are met.
  • Effectively communicate with clients regarding procedural and case processing issues, identify client immigration solutions and understand current client activity.
  • Manage and provide standard and customized reporting to meet the client’s needs.
  • Analyze and record all client specific processes/procedures.
  • Coordinate and manage the implementation of internal and client-based projects.
  • Understand existing fee agreements/billing practices.
  • Participate in office-wide projects, including training, recruiting, process improvement, and participates in employee satisfaction initiatives
  • Serve as a liaison between the immigration consulting team and the Client Services Manager and/or Associates
  • Be fluent with case management and other reporting tools and technologies used to manage data and information
  • Work with clients to perform intake of cases, troubleshooting issues and establishing case strategy

Let’s talk if you have the following:

  • BS or BA degree required
  • At least 5 years of business immigration experience (i.e. paralegal)
  • Expert knowledge of procedural requirements for various types of nonimmigrant and immigrant visas and client processes.
  • A client service mindset, attention to detail and desire to achieve a high level of productivity
  • Experience corresponding with clients directly on case processing and other procedural matters.
  • Experience handling high touch client base with poise and confidence.
  • Knowledge of case management and billing systems.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with competing demands
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to contribute to positive work environment, effectively collaborate and promote teamwork
  • Ability to prioritize own work and team's work and take on multiple projects
  • Excellent attention to detail
