Onsite - Business Immigration Specialist

Fragomen Chicago is seeking an Onsite Business Immigration Specialist with a minimum of 3-5 years’ Business Immigration experience to join our on-site team at a client’s office situated just outside of Detroit, MI in suburban Farmington Hills, MI. We would review remote applicants at this time also.


You will support internal client activities as they relate to immigration. This professional will be well acquainted with the client’s culture, practices, philosophy and procedures.  


  • Serve as a U.S. immigration resource to Talent Mobility Team, Foreign Nationals, Recruiters, BHRs and Managers.

  • Work within client and Fragomen email boxes to answer immigration related questions.

  • Manage multiple work streams

  • Serve as first level point of contact for client employees and handle issue escalation and resolution on site.

  • Perform assessments for candidates and internal transfers to determine if work authorization is required and ascertain the appropriate global work visa.

  • Escalate assessments to Fragomen as needed.

  • Coordinate and ensure company compliance with government document postings and job postings (both onsite and electronically, as needed), as well as company signatures.

  • Interface with client’s relocation vendor regarding immigration matters for employees transferring into or back to the US.

  • Ensure sensitivities for VIPs or special cases are understood and handled appropriately.

  • Collect and structure data to support and own decisions that drive project effectiveness, efficiency and innovation

  • Leverage relationships and build the goodwill necessary to strengthen connections, build trust and drive change without authority

  • Prepare and deliver impactful presentations to the business when needed

  • Partner and manage stakeholders for project buy-in, resourcing and productive results

  • Assess and clarify stakeholders' primary goals/motives to ensure that these are considered and communicated effectively

  • Connect and empathize with stakeholders


  • BA or BS degree required

  • 3-5 years of professional work experience in business immigration (law firm or in-house).

  • Ability to multitask using analytical and problem-solving skills within a fast-paced environment with competing demands.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrate flexibility regarding client and legal team requests.

  • Achieve high level of productivity.

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

  • NIV & IV experience preferred.
