Digital Wallet – FAQs

Fragomen Blue Bar

What is the Fragomen Wallet?

The Fragomen Wallet is a mobile application that allows you to securely store, manage, and share your verified identity credentials such as passports, visas, and supporting documents. It acts as your personal digital identity space, where all information is issued and validated by trusted Fragomen processes, ensuring accuracy and security.

How do I create a Fragomen Wallet?

You will receive an invitation from Fragomen. After downloading the app, you complete onboarding by verifying your identity and setting up access to your wallet. This process ensures your wallet is uniquely linked to you and ready to receive credentials.

Why do I need to verify my identity during onboarding?

Identity verification ensures that your wallet is securely linked to you and allows Fragomen to issue trusted digital credentials. This step reduces fraud risks and ensures that all credentials issued are tied to a verified individual.

What documents do I need to provide during onboarding?

Typically, you will be asked to scan a government-issued document such as a Passport, National ID, Driver’s License and complete a biometric verification. These documents are used to confirm your identity and create your initial digital identity profile.

What happens after I upload my documents?

Your documents are validated automatically. If the data matches expected records, onboarding completes immediately. If discrepancies are found, Fragomen specialists review the case to ensure accuracy before proceeding.

What is a verifiable credential?

A verifiable credential is a verified and secure version of your document issued by Fragomen. It contains trusted data that can be shared digitally without needing to repeatedly upload or verify the same document.

What is Fragomen ID and how does it relate to my wallet?

Fragomen ID is a verifiable credential issued by Fragomen that can be linked to your wallet. It serves as a trusted proof of your identity within Fragomen systems and can be used across connected services.

Can I control what information I share?

Yes. You must explicitly approve every request to share your data. Only the requested information is shared, giving you full control over how your identity data is used.

What is a verification request?

A verification request is when Fragomen or another authorized party asks you to share specific information from your wallet. You can review the request details and choose whether to approve or reject it.

What happens when I receive a notification?

Notifications inform you about key actions such as credential offers, verification requests, or status updates. These ensure you stay informed and can take timely action when required.

Can I upload additional documents to the wallet?

Yes. You can scan and upload additional documents at any time. These documents can then be validated and converted into digital credentials if required.

What if my document cannot be verified automatically?

If automatic validation fails, the document is routed for manual review by Fragomen specialists. This ensures that valid documents are still processed even in complex scenarios.

Can I delete or manage my credentials?

Yes. You can delete or archive credentials within your wallet. This allows you to keep your wallet organized and manage which credentials are active or visible.

What happens if a credential expires?

You will receive notifications when a credential is nearing expiration. This allows you to take action, such as renewing or updating the credential, to avoid disruptions.

Can a credential be revoked?

Yes. Fragomen or the issuing authority can revoke a credential if necessary. You will be notified immediately so you are aware of any changes.

How do I access my wallet securely?

Access is secured using biometrics such as fingerprint or facial recognition, along with a PIN. This ensures only you can access your wallet and its contents.

What types of credentials can I store?

You can store a wide range of credentials including identity documents, visas, permits, and supporting immigration documentation, all verified by Fragomen.

Can I share documents outside Fragomen systems?

Yes. Where supported, you can share your credentials with external parties. Sharing is always controlled by you and requires your consent.

What happens if I lose access to my device?

Recovery options are available to help you regain access to your wallet. These depend on your setup and ensure your credentials are not permanently lost.

Can I use the wallet across multiple devices?

Future capabilities will allow secure access across multiple devices, ensuring flexibility while maintaining strong security controls.

How does the wallet connect to Fragomen services?

The wallet integrates directly with Fragomen systems, enabling seamless onboarding, document submission, and credential sharing without repeated manual processes.

Can I manage credentials for family members or dependents?

Yes. The wallet supports the management of dependent profiles, allowing you to store and manage credentials for family members included in your immigration case. Documents for dependents are kept separately from your own credentials, and any sharing or verification requests for dependents require your explicit approval.

How do I close my account or offboard from the Fragomen Wallet?

If you no longer require access to the Fragomen Wallet — for example, if your immigration case concludes or you leave your employer — you can request account closure through the app or by contacting Fragomen.

What happens to my data when I stop using the wallet?

Your data is retained only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, in line with applicable data protection regulations.
