Advisors in Certain Industries Limited to Six-Month Work Permit Validity Period

 

The Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration (MOMT) has announced a new maximum validity period for work permit applications submitted by companies in the service, trading, and consulting industries. For such companies, applications for Advisor positions (such as Marketing Advisors and Quality Control Advisors) will be strictly limited to a maximum duration of six months, without the possibility of extensions. The six-month limit is being strictly enforced. 

 

Although the MOMT has indicated that foreign nationals holding at least a Bachelor’s degree and more than five years of relevant work experience may still be eligible for a twelve-month approval, in practice, the MOMT is unlikely to approve such applications. This is because the local Indonesian co-worker required to be appointed with each foreign national is deemed able to complete the requisite training and take on such a position within six months.
