Employers Subject to Online Notification Requirements for All Foreign Nationals
May 28, 2015
Effective immediately, employers of foreign nationals under any PIP, TP or NE visa or permit, including technical visas (TP-13), technical entry permits (PIP7), single entry permits (PIP6) and business visas (NE), must notify the Immigration authority within 15 calendar days of the employee’s employment start and end dates using the online system implemented last year, called SIRE (Sistema de Información para el Reporte de Extranjeros).
Prior to this change, notification was only required for foreign nationals under TP-4, MERCOSUR, Resident (RE) and TP-10 status. Employers or foreign nationals that were previously required to report their start and end dates will continue to be subject to the requirement.
Filing the end of assignment notification cancels the foreign national’s visa or permit.
What This Means for Employers and Foreign Nationals
Employers are now subject to an additional administrative responsibility when hiring foreign nationals. Affected employers can contact their immigration professional for assistance with the online notification system.
