Armenia: New Citizenship-by-Investment Program Forthcoming

Foreign nationals will be able to obtain Armenian citizenship by making a significant economic contribution in the area of economy, culture, athletics, and other areas. The law exempts such applicants from other naturalization requirements (i.e. knowledge of the Armenian language, residence in Armenia, among other requirements but requires the applicant to appear in Armenia at the relevant authorities’ office. The evaluation criteria is expected to be published by the end of January 2023 but is expected to include criteria such as an investment of USD 100,000 in a technology company; purchase of real estate valued at least USD 150,000; at least 20 years of work experience in a publicly traded technology company; being engaged in dissemination and preservation of Armenian culture, heritage, and identity; or having a scientific title of docent, professor in the area of healthcare.
