Botswana: Engineers Registration Board Certificate Registration Requirement for Qualified Engineers in Non-Engineering Roles
January 21, 2025
Foreign nationals with engineering qualifications or work experience who intend to work in Botswana in non-engineering roles are now required to register with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) to obtain an Engineers Registration Board Certificate (ERB) before applying for a short-term or long-term work permit. In some cases, work permit approval may be granted on the condition that ERB registration is in progress. It is important to note that obtaining an ERB certificate typically takes one to three months, potentially extending the overall work permit processing time. Previously, these affected engineers could apply for a work permit and work in non-engineering roles without obtaining an ERB certificate.
