Canada: Longer Validity for Work and Residence Authorization Under the Provincial Nominee Program

The government of Canada has increased the maximum validity period of work and residence authorizations for foreign nationals nominated under the Provincial Nominee Program to a maximum period of three years or until their passport expires, whichever is earlier, up from the previous two-year maximum validity. The Provincial Nominee Program is intended for foreign nationals with the skills, education and/or work experience required to contribute to a specific Canadian territory or province and who are seeking permanent residence in Canada. Each province and territory (except Quebec) has its own Provincial Nominee Program which targets specific labor needs.
