Canada: New Provincial Nominee Stream for the Tourism and Hospitality Sector in Alberta

Following the recent temporary suspension of the Alberta Opportunity Stream, the government of Canada has announced it will open a new immigration stream – the Tourism and Hospitality Stream - under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) on March 1, 2024. The stream is intended for individuals who have already been working for a tourism and hospitality business in Canada for at least six months and who meet the criteria to establish themselves in Alberta permanently. To be eligible, candidates will need to have a valid full-time, non-seasonal job offer from an approved employer operating within the tourism and hospitality industry. Additional details on the eligibility criteria and the application process are expected to be released by March 1. With this stream, the government aims to attract skilled workers to the province’s tourism and hospitality industry to help relieve labor shortages.
