Canada: Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program Reopens with Fewer Streams and Stricter Eligibility Criteria

Saskatchewan has announced changes to its Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) effective immediately, affecting employers and prospective applicants. The province has resumed accepting Job Approval Forms (JAFs), a key requirement for job-offer-based permanent residence pathways, with priority given to candidates in the health, agriculture, and skilled trades sectors. Other sectors were previously limited to candidates already in Canada with valid work authorization. The Entrepreneur, Graduate Entrepreneur, and Farm Owner/Operator streams have been closed to new applications, and a 25% nomination cap has been introduced for the accommodations, retail, and trucking industries. Eligibility rules have also been tightened for work permit holders under the International Mobility Program. Lastly, international graduates must now have completed programs of at least two years, and employers in temporary staffing and placement services are no longer eligible to participate in the SINP.
