Canada: Upfront Medical Examination No Longer Required Before Submitting Express Entry Applications

As of October 1, 2023, foreign nationals and their dependents applying for permanent residence through Express Entry are no longer required to obtain an upfront medical examination before submitting their application. After they submit their complete application for permanent residence, the immigration authorities will issue instructions on the type of medical exam required (standard or streamlined) and how and where to obtain it. As a reminder, certain foreign nationals may be exempt from having to undergo a medical examination, for example, those who have completed an immigration medical exam within five years of submitting the permanent residence application, among other criteria.
