Colombia: Stricter Enforcement of Entry Requirements for Venezuelan Nationals

According to news sources, Migración Colombia has issued a reminder to airlines regarding the strict enforcement of entry requirements for Venezuelan nationals traveling to Colombia by air. As a reminder, to enter Colombia, visitors must hold a return or onward travel ticket (unless they hold a Colombian visa valid for more than six months or a Temporary Protection Permit (PPT)) and provide proof of sufficient funds (such as bank statements, cash, or credit cards) for their trip. Individuals who have been deported, expelled, or declared inadmissible in another country may be denied entry into Colombia. While these requirements typically apply to all foreign visitors, Migración Colombia is heightening its scrutiny and enforcement specifically for Venezuelan nationals as part of broader immigration control efforts. Also, as a reminder, Venezuelan nationals can use their expired passports for up to 10 years beyond the expiration date of the passport to enter Colombia (or their Colombian PPT or a valid residence card from a Mercosur or Andean Community country); however, they cannot use a Venezuelan identity card as a travel document to enter Colombia.
