
Employers hiring foreign workers in Cyprus are now required to update employee information (such as their job description, hours of work, salary, and leave entitlements) on the national online platform at least one day before they start work. Failure to update information on this system may result in administrative penalties.
Additionally, the government has increased immigration noncompliance fines. There is now a fine of EUR 1,000 per undeclared worker, with an additional EUR 500 fine for each previous month of noncompliance; and higher fines for repeat violations, rising to EUR 2,000 for a second offence and EUR 3,000 for subsequent offences.
These changes come amidst increased inspections and increased enforcement of immigration compliance in general, so employers should ensure they comply with immigration processes and rules.
