Czech Republic: Relaxed Work Authorization-Related Processes for Select Nationals Forthcoming
March 19, 2025
Update - March 19, 2025: From March 1, 2025, these relaxed work authorization rules also apply for Taiwanese.
June 11, 2024: Effective July 1, 2024, employers of nationals of Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States will no longer need to conduct a labor market testing for open positions they seek to fill with a foreign worker. As part of this, they will not need to publish a vacancy position regarding the role. Additionally, nationals of the above countries will be able to change employers in the Czech Republic without waiting for government approval. That said, eligible foreign nationals will still need to register their employment status with their relevant regional branch of the State Labour Inspection Office, which is a standard part of the work permit process. This policy is likely to considerably reduce the cost and administrative burden for employers seeking to hire foreign talent, including highly skilled workers (with the affected countries being prominent sources of highly skilled talent).
