Denmark: Relaxed Dependent Visa Pathway for the Family of Eligible Danish Nationals
June 12, 2024
Effective July 1, 2024, the dependents of certain Danish nationals will be eligible for a standard dependent permit. Previously, only the dependents of foreign nationals could access this permit; while the dependents of Danish nationals needed to apply instead under the more administratively complex Family Reunification Scheme. To be eligible, the dependent foreign national’s Danish family member must be established abroad and have either entered into or received a job offer to engage in employment that would be captured under the Positive Lists, Pay Limit Schemes, Fast Track Schemes, or Researcher pathways, among others. Many of these roles are either highly skilled in nature or associated with sectors suffering labor shortages. This policy may increase the attractiveness of returning to Denmark for Danish nationals as they now may bring their family members more easily.
