Finland: Delays in Residence Permit Card Delivery to Russia
December 2, 2022
Due to irregular postal communications in Russia, the Finnish Migration Service has warned of a potential delay of up to several weeks in residence permit card deliveries to Russia. Successful applicants will receive their card from the Finnish embassy once delivered; individuals are advised to wait until the Finnish authorities have contacted them regarding delivery. Affected foreign nationals can travel if they hold a valid Schengen visa, however, Fragomen advises that those without a residence card do not travel abroad to avoid travel issues. Note, this only applies to foreign nationals applying for their initial residence permit since those applying for an extension do so directly in Finland, where there are no delivery delays.
