Gabon: Land Borders and Government Offices Closed
August 30, 2023
Update September 5, 2023: Land, sea and air borders and government offices have reopened, and the government has ordered government offices to open from 08:00 to 14:00 local time. Delays in immigration applications and outcomes can be expected due to a backlog.
Military authorities have announced the closure of land borders until further notice due to the recent election results. All government offices are closed, and immigration applications will not be accepted or processed. Delays following reopening should be expected. Employers should ensure the safety of their employees and should account for expected immigration and travel delays. Foreign nationals in Gabon should contact their home country consular post to declare their safety and seek travel advice. We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
