Germany: Relaxed Rules for Foreign Nurses
June 5, 2023
The German government passed a draft law that reforms nursing education. The law would standardize and simplify the recognition of foreign nursing degrees and would make the necessary forms uniform nationwide. This should lead to more transparency, clarity and security in the immigration process for nurses. In addition, the law creates the possibility of replacing the degree equivalence test with a knowledge test. Once the law is approved by Parliament, it will come into force. This is expected to happen January 1, 2024.
