Germany: Relaxed Short-Term Visa Appointment Policies for Indian Nationals

The German government has announced that Indian nationals can now schedule appointments and submit short-term Schengen visa applications at any visa application center in India, regardless of the applicant’s place of residence. Previously, Indian nationals had to submit their application to the consular post in their place of usual residence. These relaxed policies aim to make appointment scheduling easier, and with the application processing now centralized in the German Visa Center Mumbai, processing delays may be lessened as a result. Note, this policy change does not apply to Indian nationals applying for D visas, student visas, family reunification or employment.
