Ghana: New In-Country Application Process in Effect; Medical Assessment Process Clarified
March 27, 2023
As an update to the new policy requiring the foreign national’s presence in Ghana before filing a work permit application, the government has clarified that the new policy is now in effect. Further, it has clarified that the company representative can pay the medical assessment fee on behalf of foreign nationals working in the oil and gas sector, after which the foreign national can provide proof of payment for the medical assessment fee to support their work permit application. Once the application is approved, foreign nationals can then travel to Ghana and complete the medical assessment and submit their residence permit application with the Ghana Immigration Services. Foreign nationals in non-oil and gas sectors can travel to Ghana, complete the medical assessment and pay the medical assessment fees at the Ghana Immigration Services Medical Centre prior to submission of their work permit application. Once approved, the foreign national can file their residence permit application with the Ghana Immigration Services.
