Guatemala: Visa Exemption to be Revoked for Nationals of the Dominican Republic

Effective February 14, 2023, nationals of the Dominican Republic will no longer be visa-exempt when entering Guatemala for tourism or business and must instead obtain a consular visitor visa (Category B) for entry. A consular visa typically allows a stay of up to 90 days (extendable for an additional 90 days), the same as visa-exempt entry. Certain Dominican nationals may still be visa exempt if they hold an eligible visa for Canada, the United States or a Schengen country. According to the government, the measure will be implemented in response to the increase in Dominican nationals entering Guatemala and not complying with immigration requirements.
