Guyana: Work Permit Card Introduced
July 30, 2026
Guyana's immigration authorities have introduced a Work Permit Card, which is now issued in addition to the existing work permit endorsement stamp placed in foreign nationals' passports. Following work permit approval and biometric registration, foreign nationals now receive both the passport endorsement stamp and a Work Permit Card, both indicating the validity period of the holder’s work authorization. Like the passport endorsement stamp, the card serves as evidence of the holder's legal immigration status and work authorization in Guyana, while providing a more convenient way for foreign nationals to demonstrate their lawful status without routinely carrying their passports.
