Foreign Nationals with Pending Work Permit Renewals
Foreign employees with work permits set to expire during the closure period must file renewal applications by November 28, 2014. Those who fail to do so, or whose renewals are not approved by December 19, 2014, will need to leave Papua New Guinea and apply for a new work permit abroad. Those who overstay their work permit validity periods may face fines.
What This Means for Employers and Foreign Nationals
Renewal applications for work permits expiring through February 2015 should be filed by November 28 – three months before their expiration, as required under current immigration rules.
