Hungary: Change of Residence Permit Practice Relaxed

Per a change in practice, foreign nationals who hold a residence permit for self-employment, seasonal work, investment, employment, or voluntary activities seeking to change to a new type of residence permit no longer need to withdraw their first residence permit before submitting a new residence permit application from abroad. This means that they can now leave Hungary, submit a new application abroad for the desired permit type, return to Hungary under the current permit while the new one is being processed, and receive the new residence permit card in Hungary once it is approved. This simplifies the change-of-residence-permit process and reduces downtime between assignments.
