Hungary: Easier Process for Study/Research Residence Permit Holders to Convert to EU Blue Card

Immigration practitioners have observed that the Hungarian Immigration Authority now allows study or research residence permit holders to convert to an EU Blue Card without first obtaining an interim “Job-Seeking or starting a business” residence permit, provided all other eligibility requirements are satisfied. This is a change in procedural practice as opposed to a change in formal law. This adjustment enhances the overall accessibility of the EU Blue Card for qualified individuals.
