Indonesia: New Online Visa Platform Introduced
January 11, 2024
Effective January 9, 2024, the Indonesian government implemented a new visa system which must be used for all visa application submissions. As a result of this change, the visa sub-types on the online platform will have new visa codes, which are used by immigration authorities to refer to the type of visa and which will appear on issued visas. For example, a B211 A/B visa is now referred to as a Business Visa and a B213 visa is referred to as a visa-on-arrival. Within the first week following the system launch, foreign nationals and employers should expect delays of approximately five business days in the adjudication of visas, as the transition to the new online system is completed. Employers who have an existing online account will need to re-register their company account in order to log into the new system, which should take approximately five to ten minutes. A digital photograph of the signatory is required. However, companies registering on the new system for the first time will find that it takes approximately three business days for the process to be completed.
