Following the recent elections, the new government has stated that they intend to abolish the “Grandchild Clause” in the Law of Return, which was originally added in 1970. The clause allows any person with at least one Jewish grandparent to immigrate to Israel if they do not practice another religion and even if they are not considered Jewish according to (Halacha) Jewish law. Anyone who is currently eligible under the Grandchild Clause and is interested in immigrating to Israel (making Aliyah) should submit their application either in Israel or at the Israeli consulate abroad immediately, in case the clause is abolished.
