Israel: Proof of Settlement in Israel Again Required to Obtain Passport

Effective immediately, immigrants to Israel will have to prove that they have settled in the country in order to receive an Israeli passport. It has not yet been announced how long an immigrant will have to live in Israel before they are able to obtain a passport, but further guidelines are expected shortly. This law had previously been in place prior to 2017 and was reinstated to stop the alleged practice of foreign nationals leaving Israel upon receipt of their Israeli passport.
