Italy: Updated Quota and Longer Residence Permit Renewal Validity
March 14, 2023
A new law will require the government to issue quota numbers for foreign workers every three years instead of annually. The current three-year period’s quota numbers have not been published yet but are expected to include increases in allowable entrants to compensate for the worker shortage in Italy. Additionally, residence permits issued on the basis of indefinite contract work, for family reasons and self-employment can now be renewed for three years instead of two. This will allow foreign nationals under these statuses to reside in Italy longer without a renewal application.
