Japan: Application Fees for Some Services Increasing

Effective April 1, 2025, the Japanese government will increase the application fees for the following immigration services: the Change of Status/Extension of Period Stay fee will increase to JPY 6,000 for physical filing and JPY 5,500 for online filing (up from JPY 4,000); the Permanent Residency fee will increase to JPY 10,000 (up from JPY 8,000); the Multi Re-entry Permit fee will increase to JPY 7,000 for physical filing and JPY 6,500 for online filing (up from JPY 6,000); and Certificate of Authorized Employment fee will increase to JPY 2,000 for physical filing and JPY 1,600 for online filing (up from JPY 1,200).
