Japan: Digital Nomad Visa Under Consideration
February 8, 2024
As expected, the Japanese Minister of Justice has announced that the country is considering implementing a Digital Nomad Visa that would offer a six-month residence status for qualifying foreign nationals of a visa-exempt country working remotely in Japan and earning at least an annual income of JPY 10 million (USD 68,300), who are enrolled in an eligible health insurance plan. Further details are not available at this time, but the visa is expected to be implemented in March following a public comment period.
