Japan: Visa Issuance Fees to Increase Effective July 2026
June 23, 2026
Effective July 1, 2026, the Japanese government will substantially raise visa issuance fees for applications submitted on or after that date. The fee for a single-entry visa will increase from JPY 3,000 to JPY 15,000, while the fee for a multiple-entry visa will increase from JPY 6,000 to JPY 30,000. The revised fees will be payable at the Japanese embassy or consulate when the visa is issued.
Japanese immigration authorities have proposed significant increases to immigration application fees, with implementation anticipated as early as October 2026 (e.g. proposed increasing permanent residence application fees from JPY 10,000 to JPY 200,000).
