Lithuania: Internal Schengen Border Controls Temporarily Reinstated
June 7, 2023
Due to the upcoming NATO summit, the Ministry of Interior of Lithuania announced that internal border controls within the Schengen Area will be re-instated from July 7 at 8:00 local time to July 13 at 8:00 local time to ensure security for the event. During this time, travelers seeking to enter Lithuania by land will need to present valid travel documents, such as passports and identity cards, and may encounter longer wait times to enter the country as border security checks these documents. Further, individuals on flights entering Lithuania from other Schengen Area countries and those at seaport checkpoints will also be required to present such travel documents.
