Mexico: Federal INM Offices Announce Unanticipated Holiday Closures on November 1-2

The Mexican Immigration Agency (INM) announced today that the INM’s federal offices will close on November 1 and 2 in observance of All Souls’ Day and Day of the Dead. This deviates from previous practice when the offices would remain open as the holidays were not considered "official holidays". As a result of the closures, immigration processing times may be delayed and appointments previously scheduled on these days will be postponed. Fragomen Mexico is contacting affected clients and recommends individuals postpone travel plans if they do not hold valid travel identification cards due to pending applications with the INM. Further, individuals are reminded that legal processing times continue to be suspended in accordance with the Federal Decree for the suspension of immigration timeframes published in 2020, which has resulted in delayed application processing.
