The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has introduced an online system that enables employers and applicants to submit Temporary Work Permit (TWP) applications and make payments electronically before traveling to Nigeria. Under the new process, the TWP will be digitally linked to the applicant’s entry visa once the visa is issued. Previously, TWP applications were submitted in country in Nigeria and once approved, the permit was physically endorsed in the applicant’s passport. This digital transition is therefore expected to streamline submission, payment, and status-tracking procedures for both employers and applicants, and allows foreign nationals to submit their TWP applications out-of-country for the first time.
