Canada
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has increased the number of applications it will accept through its Parent and Grandparent (PGP) Program to 10,000 applications in 2016, doubling the previous cap of 5,000 applications. The program is available to Canadian citizens and permanent residents sponsoring their parents and grandparents.
Application Acceptance
- Applicants who submitted a completed application for this year’s intake period before the new cap was reached will be placed in an inventory and have their applications reviewed this year.
- Applicants who submitted an incomplete application or submitted an application after the new cap was reached will have their applications returned and their fee reimbursed.
The PGP Program will re-open for intake on January 3, 2017, with a cap of 10,000 applications.
