Effective immediately, foreign nationals must now appear in person at the Immigration Authority in Egypt to submit initial and renewal Residency Permit applications and to endorse their visa, unless the applicant allows a third party to appear on his or her behalf through a power of attorney.
Foreign nationals applying for initial or renewed Residence Permits for their dependents must now also appear at the Immigration Authority to apply for the dependent’s permit and to endorse the dependent’s visa.
What This Means for Employers and Foreign Nationals
Previously, employers could obtain a power of attorney for a third party to appear on behalf of the employee. Now, the applicant faces an extra administrative hurdle since he or she must either appear in person or execute the power of attorney him or herself for it to be valid.
