Peru: New Passports Issued with Longer Validity

The government of Peru has published a decree effective May 7, 2024, which will increase the validity of newly-issued regular passports to 10 years, up from the currently-issued five years. Applicants with passport appointments scheduled after May 7 who have already paid passport fees, must pay an additional PEN 22.30 as the new cost of passports will be PEN 120.90, up from the current PEN 98.60. Previously-issued passports for five years remain valid until their expiration dates.
