Portugal: Grace Period to Submit Missing Documentation Eliminated

The Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA) no longer accepts incomplete Temporary Residence Permit applications, as the 10-business-day grace period to provide missing documentation has been eliminated. Foreign nationals submitting incomplete applications will be notified that their application was rejected and that they must schedule a new appointment. Practically, this means that applicants without valid immigration status in Portugal whose applications are rejected may face re-entry issues, and those without a Temporary Residence Permit will face delays with opening a bank account, registering with the local health system, and accessing certain public services.
