Portugal: Residence Permit Renewals Can Only be Submitted 30 Days Before Expiration

Despite the law allowing renewal applications to be submitted 90 days prior to expiry, in practice, it is currently only possible to renew residence permits that expire within 30 days. Affected assignees whose residence permits expire who are awaiting a residence permit appointment (there are significant delays with appointments) will be considered to have valid immigration status in Portugal until December 31, 2023 due to a temporary concession.
