The Portuguese Immigration and Borders Service’s (SEF) online systems are experiencing technical issues, affecting SEF’s service delivery. Accordingly, foreign nationals and employers should expect delays regarding the scheduling or rescheduling of visa or permit appointments, as well as the issuance of residence permits and renewals. Furthermore, the SEF is set to be replaced by a new agency (the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum) in late October 2023 with potential delays occurring as part of this transition process. Affected foreign nationals should work with their immigration professional for case-specific advice.
