Due to the recent terror attacks and related state of emergency, France has put strict border controls into place until at least December 13, 2015, at train stations, air and seaports. Travelers should expect increased security at entry checkpoints. Issuance of visas and immigration documents could be delayed or suspended at the discretion of the French government.
What This Means for Foreign Nationals
If you are traveling to France in the near future:
• Contact your Fragomen immigration professional to determine whether any travel restrictions apply.
• If you are a national of the European Economic Area or Switzerland, be prepared to present a valid identification document at entry checkpoints.
• If you are a third-country national, be ready to present a residence permit, long-stay visa or Schengen Visa C, and related supporting documents.
• Be prepared for longer waits and closer scrutiny at ports of entry and at French consulates and other government agencies.
