Due to ambiguity surrounding the need for medical tests for foreign nationals in Russia as Highly Qualified Specialists, it is recommended that such foreign nationals should obtain medical tests when renewing their work permit, at a minimum. However, it is also advisable for foreign nationals who are traveling in and out of Russia to undertake medical checks annually to avoid the perceived risk of non-compliance. Although the risk of being found non-compliant is low, potential fines or penalties for not obtaining the necessary medical checks may include a reduction in validity of stay in Russia, having to leave the country within three days or potentially having their work permit cancelled. Foreign nationals should reach out to their immigration professional for any questions or concerns relating to this matter.
