Serbia: Reduced Labor Market Testing Requirements
June 5, 2025
Effective March 1, 2025, Serbian employers no longer need to complete a labor market test (LMT) as part of any D-visa application for local employment. However, an LMT is still required as part of any Single Permit application once the applicant enters Serbia. This change seeks to streamline work authorization procedures by removing the need to submit two LMT applications. Following this change, foreign nationals in Serbia under a D-Visa and working for less than six months in the country will no longer need to submit any LMT application. Country experts note, however, that such cases are likely to be uncommon in practice, as local employment arrangements usually last longer than six months – in which case a Single Permit application is necessary.
