November 8, 2024
Update - November 8, 2024: The Ministry of Manpower has released a new Shortage Occupation List (SOL) as of November 2024, adding positions such as semiconductor engineers, process engineers, and instrumentation engineers, among others. This new SOL will apply to both new and renewal Employment Pass applications starting from January 1, 2025, while the current SOL from March 2023 remains in effect for applications filed through December 31, 2024. Aside from the addition of the new positions, all existing job titles on the SOL have been retained.
August 30, 2023: The Ministry of Manpower of Singapore has released the "SOL Employer Guide," outlining the criteria applicants must meet to qualify under the Shortage Occupation List. By meeting these criteria, applicants can earn bonus points for their COMPASS assessment and/or secure the extended five-year Employment Pass for certain tech professionals. To earn these bonus points, candidates must adhere to the key job duties of the specified shortage occupation, choose an eligible job title consistent with the occupation in the MyCareersFuture job advertisement, and satisfy additional requirements as applicable. These include presenting relevant qualifications, showcasing pertinent work experience, and, when required, providing registration proof.
